Poet, playwright and prose writer, often called the creator of the modern Russian literary language. Author of the novel in verse Eugene Onegin, the tragedy Boris Godunov and the poem The Bronze Horseman. He was mortally wounded in a duel with Georges d'Anthès in 1837.
